1 – Because of 21st-century tools, have access to virtually infinite amounts of information because we have domesticated the electron.
2 – In the past, education followed monolithic strict religious and political infrastructures. Today that is not the case. While there are still many education systems that follow a rigid religious and/or political structure, there are many others that don’t have to.
3 – Our basic needs have changed from basic literacy, military, math, and food needs to higher level needs like Java programming and Photoshop.
4 – Our traditional “pyramid” of knowledge has become a “network” of knowledge.
5 – In the old days, most education was conducted in a very homogeneous environment, but now diversity is the rule and not the exception.
